Just got my barn, dock, and new fence finished and I still have left-over lumber scattered around. Looks like we may get hit with the Sub-Tropical weather tomorrow or Monday.

The scarmble to get stuff put away will not be fun, but I know we could use a "load the Ark" rain here. My lake is down so far that the dock and ladder on the end is 10 feet from the water...

Anyway, time to go "pick up the pieces" as they say.

God, that brings back memories. I was an Army Band Commander for more years than I should admit to. I can remember one of our Pop groups LOVED that song and played it WAY past when it was popular. Gotta be honest, it was fun to play...:thumbsup:

I left a message on your thread. Bottom line is we were able to use a manual post hole digger because the water level is down so far and only had to replace one post. I have a contractor coming over tomorrow to go over plans for a new house (assuming the weather allows)- I'll ask him for ideas when I see him.

You probably got some rain today, I did. It looks like you may get some tonight if it's not raining there now. Not near enough to matter, however. The forecast is still pretty bleak, I have a pond.. er uh had a pond, the fish started to really stink this week, but now they are all fish jerky... the heron got fed well and hopefully will find a mate and have lots of heron chicks.
Ever seen two great blue herons fight over a mud puddle full of flopping fish?

Yup Robert, it has actually rained throughout the night pretty nicely and is still doing so this morning. My Sat Internet is coming and going, but I'm happy to be without service if we can get another couple of days of rain. I'm on now, but can see the next line of clouds headin' this way.

We haven't got to the fish flopping stage, but if we don't do something about the lilly-pads pretty soon, we will be able to almost walk across the lake.

They make good compost, as does hyacinth, just don't get any alligator weed mixed in. That weed is toxic, it will make a cow blind.
I have dried it and used it for mulch. Make sure it's completely dried as it can grow as a terrestrial plant as well.
