I have a heavy duty bucket I'd like to put hooks on for using chains. Does anyone have any ideas? I have friends that weld hooks and others that bolt angle iron on and then weld hooks. Which works best?

There's a whole bunch of different threads on this very topic. If you do a search for hooks, you'll get all kinds of information. Here's just one - <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.tractorbynet.com/cgi-bin/compact/showflat.pl?Cat=&Board=buildit&Number=138164&page=&view=&sb=&o=&vc=1>FEL Hooks</A>

When I bought my TC33D I had the dealer put a hook on. I have the heavy duty bucket with the round upper edge. He welded a plate, in the middle, from the top round edge bridging the gap back to the straight bucket surface and then on top of the plate welded a grab hook. This has been very handy for lifting things. E-mail me if you want a picture.

My dealership is also a big welding shop. In fact the name is Franklin Equipment and Welding. I asked them if I needed to reinforce the heavy duty bucket in anyway. The welding guys said it was not necessary at all with the rounded lip.

I had them weld 3 hooks on. I had a grab hook on either end and a slip hook in the middle. I was worried it was overkill, but I am really glad now that I did it this way. For most things, I use the two grab hooks. But when hauling brush that is too long to fit in the bucket, the center hook is great. I loop the chain through it, around the brush, and then lock it to the grab hooks. The slip hook lets the chain center itself.

Attached is a pic of my hooks.

Find the post by jinman with a pic of his setup for hooks. I adopted it on my tc45 and it works great. HD bucket - using TSC parts, it's quick, easy, removable, and flexible. The only change I made was I used longer chain stubs than he shows which adds to the flexibility. I really like being able to put them on just when I need them and not having them on otherwise.
