Honey Suckle

Does anyone know to get rid of honey suckle snd keep it gone. I can knock it down for a while but it comes back. Its in the fence rows so I cant mow it down.

Cut the bush back to ground level and apply 20% glysophosphate solution to each stump. Pulling is also effective, but if you don't get out all the roots it will come back.

Cutting without herbicide treatment does no good, it only comes back stronger with more stems. Most of the big bushes I've cut down (6-8" stems, 15-20' tall) require several treatments with herbicide during the first 6 months after cutting.

I'm fighting it in my woods we purchased 2 years ago. Slowly making progress on the most infested areas, but I'm loosing the war.

I like the smell, appearance, and even taste of the flowers, but the vines are not only used by birds for nesting, but also as a place for red wasps and yellow jackets to nest. And as has been stated, it can be a real problem to get rid of it. Our first house had a chain link fence around the back yard, and honeysuckle in, on, and through the fence all the way across the back.

If it's as resilient as some describe here, why not just let it grow on the fence and keep it trimmed if necessary. It should provide some extra privacy. We have it by the back door growing on a trellis. It smells great, looks nice, attracts butterflies and hummingbirds. I'm sure bees will build a nest in almost any sheltered space but not sure whether honeysuckle by itself attracks bees to nest though.

This link says what to do with the stumps. What I have found is that if the bush that is cut down is not burned, it will grow again.
