I am looking for a new mini tiller and did not know what everyone thought about the honda's?? I liked the mantis but really like the honda 4cylce & the honda is $349 @ local dealer which is a little cheaper than mantis.

not sure about the mini but we got a honda f501 and its been bulletproof for over 10 years.

if the mini is as good as the 501(and it likely is) then your not making a mistake

I've got the honda. It has been trouble free for three years -- just got it out of storage and it started on 3rd pull. Barely uses any gas. The oil changes are a bit of a pain though -- no drain.

i dug one out of the neighbor's junk pile....took it down to the house, put some gas in it, checked the oil and it fired right up....one of the smoothest, quietest running engines i've ever heard....

this one had the gear box stripped out like a lot of them do...honda uses someone else's gear box.......

anyway, after i heard it run so nicely, i spent $53 on new gears and seals.....buttoned it all back up....ran it for a while..........found two thrust washers laying on the work bench that i had forgot to install!!!:(

that was at the end of last years gardening season....i'll tear it back apart soon...

seemed like a very refined little machine......

Were you able to go get one? I'm hoping you'll give us a report on one. I'm interested in one to help with the amount of weeding I have to do.

i prefer the honda to the mantis . i bought the 2 cycle mantis a couple of years ago and it has worked well for me , but my dad has the smaller honda with the 4 cycle motor . much quieter , easier to start , and i think a better value for the money .

that 2 cycle whine gets old after awhile .

I have the 100 not the 110. Be forewarned if the lower unit is made by Hoffco like on the 100 keep it greased. I have been through 2 lower units gear sets so far. First one because I didnt know about the grease in unit. Second time because the POS brass worm gear drive.
The Honda GX motors are great and quite though.

I just bought a Honda mini, used it just once so far but I love it. Started right up, first pull. I removed the wheel assembly to cultivate my veggie garden. The gas tank is tiny, and it ran about an hour. When I refilled it I poured gas all over the place. I knew the tank was small, it's opaque and right there in front of your face, but it took less than a drinking glass full. If you want to till in between things like potatoe plants, you can remove the 2 outer tines simply, and get it down to 5" width. I used mine sideways to till up the soil and hill the potatoes.
