"The Home Depot Seeds Program ("Seeds" or "Seeds Program") is a program that enables a select group of the Home Depot customers to post opinions about new and pre-released items to help their fellow customers make educated purchase decisions. Customers are invited to become Seeds Members based on the trust they have earned in the HomeDepot.com community for writing accurate and insightful reviews. The Seeds Program provides Members with free products that have been submitted to Seeds by vendors or The Home Depot. Since Seeds Members will receive access to products that are not yet available on the market, their opinions may be among the first posted on a product's detail page. The Home Depot does not influence the opinions of Seeds Members, nor do we modify or edit their reviews."
I'd never heard of it before. There is no Home Depot near-by so I shop at Lowe's for the most part. Otherwise, I'll look at Amazon.

Sorry, but compensated reviews should be outlawed. They completely skew the system if you don't have to pay for the product in full.

I have given non 5-start reviews for several things. That being said, I have seen others who have gone off that deep end with their gushing ridiculous reviews.
"Compensated reviews should be outlawed". Seems a bit harsh?

Never heard of it before. Sounds like they are making an effort to get people to review their products.

I have recently noticed on a lot of Lowe's reviews that they will say "submitted as part of a sweepstakes entry".

Yeah, new products they want reviews. Think that is a big part of the business these days. Happens once a month, when it kicks off there is a mad dash to pick what is available. Seen everything from full sized appliances, ATV tank sprayers, farm house sinks, power washers, stiletto framing hammers, etc. Also lots of small odds and ends.
