Ballast Home brew ballast box for 790

I put together a ballast box for my 790 by using a carry-all some 2X4's and 4X6 timbers. Then put some big stones on it. Its pretty heavy so it should shift the CG aft. Oh, and it was cheap. See the attached picture.

WOW, that is some ballast there, you might want even the load, from the picture that big stone looks like it should be in the middle.
What is the weight rating of the carry all? if you Know.

looks good. should work fine. i would box it in more, though, in case you get a little bumpy and one decides to slide

who makes the carry-all? i'm looking to order one next week.

When I first wanted to add a ballast box, the carry all (which is pretty cheap compared to a new ballast box from Deere) was my first choice.
I just happened to run across a nice deal on a Deere box before I bought the carry all.

Either way, adding substantial ballast to a 790 reallys helps!

I got the Carry-all a long time ago. My recollection was that I mail-ordered it from the Sears catalog (back when you could get anything from their catalog). I did find the manual for it and its made by Worksaver, inc. It's a model C-9 and it doesn't indicate what the payload capacity is.

Using rocks is probably not the optimal way to balance the load in the carry-all. I do have a bunch of cinder blocks laying around and may try those vs. the rocks.
