Hoists

Not sure where to post this. I'm looking at replacing the hoist on my jib boom. I currently have an air hoist that has seen its better days and I'm leaning towards either a two speed electric or a variable speed one. The variable speed looks pretty interesting but I've never heard much about these. Anybody have one? Opinions?

How much load are we talking? Always wanted to build something like that....

I ended up ordering a variable speed hoist from McMaster. 1/2 ton, CM brand. Just finished installing it yesterday so no opinion on it yet.

I bought a electric 1100# from Harbor Freight on sale for $99. I don't use it a lot but it has worked perfect for 12 or so years now. I have been very pleased.
