Hi i have a ford 6000 commander 1964 and i would like to swap transmission and put a 7600 transmission dual power, or a 8630 powershift transmission, is it hard to change, and could it work, Thank you

I suppose given enough time and dollars somebody could make one or the other of those transmissions work in a 6000. Neither will bolt up to the engine or rear axle center section as they are. Not going to be easy, cheap or practical.

Could i put a piece of metal that bolst from the transmission to the engine to match the bolt pattern?

As rick said. with enough ingenuity and a fat wallet.. you could adapter palte it to death and put in the tranny from some other machine as long as you get power in and out.

might be well cheaper inthe long run to buy a working 6000 SOS.. or get a different tractor.. like a 5000 or a 7000 if you like that eara and power range.. or the 7600 if you need more power and a lil newer.. etc... etc.. etc..

Thank you soundguy for your answer, but i already got the 6000, and we have 13 other ford at home, i bought ot as a project to make it a better tractor, with the same beautiful styling, its the nicest in those years, and its a shame to dont use it on the farms because of the bad transmission, so i will try to put a salvage good transmission, but i wont change the engine because its unique, i will rebuild it by a professional, thats my dream.

then just stick the OE stock sos style back in it.. I'm sure you can find an SOS for a 6000 out there for sale WAY cheaper than reinventing the wheel!
