The 60" Brushcat cutter has a min flow or 13 gpm and max of 22 gpm and not considered high flow. The 90" cutter is too heavy for the toolcat but can run between 20-32 gpm and could be considered in the high flow category.urbanist said:I too am about to place an order for a new Toolcat, and am narrowing my options in attachments. So far I am aware of the snowblower and Brushcat cutter having high-flow models.
Yes, you could get faster blade speed with high flow on the 90" mower. However, the 90" mower at its 22 gpm max flow rate has a tip speed of 17,172 ft/min. Increasing the flow to near the 28 gpm of the high flow toolcat will increase the tip speed to near 20,500 ft/min. The bearings, belts, and design of the mower may not be able to handle that speed. Now someone may correct me, but if the mowing is relatively light, you could try high flow at a lower rpm and acheive near the 22 gpm flow rate. Even most commercial mowers rarely get tip speeds greater than 17-18,000.urbanist said:I am new to this...the dealer I saw yesterday suggested that 60" Brushcat cutter would suit high-flow, which can only be installed at the factory, and that the 72" Brushcat could exceed Toolcat's specs.
On the other hand, the 90" mower does not have a high-flow version. Am I to understand that with the high-flow, one could get higher spin speeds on the 90" mower?
urbanist said:Thank you Radman1. I am considering the 60" Brushcat cutter given the condition of my soil and the fact that I will cut the fields less frequently than cutting the grass around the home site. Plus, the cutter will work with high-flow.
Just saw your last sentence...in fact there are 60" and 72" Bobcat Brushcat rotary cutters: two models of the 60" and three models of the 72", according to Bobcat's web site. There is also the 90" Bobcat mower.
The salesperson could not even provide a price for the 72" Brushcat for the Toolcat as his system did not allow him to add it as an attachment in my package.
I better get some updated brochures. I picked some up earlier this year at the dealer, but they are outdated. You are correct on all accounts. They don't even make the 90" brushcat any more and they have high flow models in the 60 and 72" models.urbanist said:Thank you Radman1.
