Hey guys got my self into a pickle here

I have a ford 2000 1964

serial on the tractor says it's a 144 cid diesel

I spun a rod bearing and destroyed the crankshaft. I decide to rebuild and the motor and replace the crank since no one could turn it. Anyway I order everything for the 144 and nothing is right rings too small crank to stroked

So i came to the conclusion the motor has been changed over the years.

I have been trying to figure it out.

it's 4 cyl diesel

Here is the info I have casting number on the block d2nl 6015L

there is also a number stamped by the timing cover d3-jl-607-L

the bore size is 4 1/8 inches

the piston have 2 compression rings and 1 oil ring, the set I ordered had 3/1

I have already dropped a crap load in the parts hoping I can return them.

I really like the tractor and hope I don't have to junk it.

It may be a 172 or 192 cu in. I found these guys that sell new, rebuilt and used engines. Yours is supposed to have the 144 but as you found out it doesn't. Maybe they can help you decipher the castings. They also have parts. Check the casting number on your crank and compare to the crank casting numbers they have on their site.

Ford Tractor Engines

According to this site your d2nl casting indicates it may be a 1972 motor. Not sure on that because it's about industrial ford engines.

This third site also confirms your motor is a 1972 tractor engine.
D is decade of 1970's (if it was C2 that would be 1962)
2 is year 1972
N is tractor
L is industrial engine

yea it seems like the bore would tell me the difference in the two sizes
