Hello all,

I'm having an issue with my Hesston 530. I was baling today and the chain that drives the belt roller broke. Last week I broke the laces out of a belt, so decided to replace the belt, which I did. It seemed to work OK, but now there's some belt squealing. I can't see that anything is not as it should be so I figured it would break in. I've baled around 25 bales since and it seemed fine. Today it suddenly felt like there was an extra load on the baler, then a few hundred feet along the chain broke. Related to the belt maybe? Coincidence? I'm going to get parts and repair the chain, but wanted to run the story by someone to see if anything sounds familiar.

Thanks!

You are better off to replace the chain. Once a chain starts breaking its a good evidence of the wear elongating the pitches and it will wear out your sprockets prematurely.
