Great forum gang, have picked up a lot of info. Now getting ready to pull the trigger, but need some advice. I was planning on going with a 2005 2554. Dealer is down to 3699.00. Looking at the posts it seems the 05 cubs have some problems, i.e. the grease zerks and the headlights, etc. I dont like the plastic hood and the high uup seating position on the 06, plus the forward visibility is reduced.

So here's the question, should I go with the cheaper 05? Or are the isses all straightened out on the 06's? Which should I buy?
Thanks for your replies.

The seating postion on the '06 is high and the seat makes it feel like I'm always falling forward. I really like the one piece hood though. I'm not sure, but the '06 may turn a bit tighter so that might be another consideration for you.

The '06 has <ul type="square">[*]a repositioned oil drain (easier to drain without making a mess) [*]more leg room [*]the muffler located higher (less chance to scorch grass when not moving) [*]rerouted headlight wiring to avoid problems [*]standard seat armrests[*]a hood design that is no longer enclosed (allows for easier clogging of cooling fan inlet with grass, debris, etc.)[/list]

I can't personally verify any of these. These are all points I've picked up here and at MTF.

I can verify a few of those things -

The oil drain on the '06 is easy and no mess.
If the older units have less legroom than my 06 I couldn't drive more than a few minutes.
The muffler and headlight wiring on the '06 is problem free so far. No melted wires or scorched grass.
The armrests are OK but the seat makes me feel like I'm falling out of it forward.
The engine fan gets *a ton* of crap in no time at all as does the air filter.
