1986 Case 580 SE
I have a question on how far down does the wiper seal seat on the hydraulic cylinder. I have changed a lot of rear end and pinion seals that have a flange on outside that seats the seal. On the wiper seal it does not, how far down do I seat the seal. The old one was flush with the gland nut and had about a 1/16 space under it. Do I install the new one the same depth(flush) or seat it in further till it bottoms out on the machined lip. Thanks for your help.

I really dont think it matters but I always stop when they are flush @ the top. It makes them easier to remove next time because you can get a screwdriver under it to get it out. If you drive them all the way down they can be tough to get out.
