Tractor had fuel contaminated. Kept cleaning everything till I could get it to run. But even after some time it was still a little hard starting. I decided I would clean the whole system thoroughly. I removed the fuel tank, fuel filter, fuel lines and injectors. I cleaned out the tank, disassembled the injectors and cleaned. (they were actually pretty clean.) I removed the delivery valves from the top of the injection pump and cleaned them with carb cleaner and reinstalled. I did not turn the engine while I had the valves out. I put everything back and when I started the engine it was fast and blew tons of black smoke. It would not respond to the throttle and would not shut down with the fuel shut off solenoid. I had to shut it down by snuffing off the air intake. I checked everything visually, such as the throttle linkage, and assured the fuel solenoid was working, but whenever I start it, same result. So I am guessing something went wrong when I reinstalled the fuel delivery valves. I would appreciate if someone with pump expertise could offer some ideas of where I went wrong. It has the Yanmar 3TNE88 engine. Thanks in advance for any replies.

I had an injection pump problem with my Kubota BX25 and there may not be any similarities, but what I found on mine was interesting so in the interest of injection pumps, I am passing it on.

In my case the tractor would not start at all. It was running fine and just cut off and would not give any indication of firing at all.

When I took the injection pump off, I found that one screw holding the shutoff lever cover onto the pump was nearly all the way out. The others were loose. This allowed the shutoff mechanism inside the injector pump to become decoupled from the shutoff solenoid. When putting the injector pump back on after re-mating the lever with all of the things it operates inside the pump (3 in my case, one for each cylinder) , I had to move the shutoff solenoid linkage to get it to mate with the shutoff arm on the pump, and after that it has been starting and running normally.

What did u TORQUE the holders to.?? They might be to tight & binding the control rack..
OR.. when u pulled the DV's u accidently pulled the barrels out of position..
..& when u tightened the holders, u sheared the lead pins that position the barrels correctly..
Either way, I dont think ur gonna be able to fix it..

Feel free the contact me..
if u click on my screen name on the left.. it'll give u contact info.
