I recently started my home/shop project....

The "shop" is a 40' x 80' x 18' "s" style, metal, free standing building with 2 hanger doors on one end and 12' x 12' roll up and entrance door on the other...

I WAS going to assemble it myself but a recent back injury has had me down for about 3 months with little chance of being in shape in a few weeks when I hope to have the slab complete and ready for building assembly.

I have spoke with 1 general contractor for a few weeks but I don't seem to be able to nail him down on a price and its the same 'ole line..." we are just so busy after the hurricanes, call me when you get closer "....( it took 5 months to get a new roof for my current home )

I am posting this with the hope someone in the east central Florida area (just south of Melbourne) might be able to give me a lead on someone who might be interested in the assembly of my new "home"...

Thanks for your time,

L225

I see that no one has replied to your post yet, so I will offer my suggestion. First of all, since no one replied, there might not be any one from your area to reccommend someone.

So that means go to plan B, have a barn raising party. Invite all of the TBN members down to help you put up the barn while you supervise as you are unable to work. One or two days should do the job on the building that you putting up.

I would be glad to come, however we are heading home sometime in the next week or so, as soon as I can get my roof shingled. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Nice to know that there's another TBN member close enough (40 or 50 miles) to be considered "close", but unfortunately, far enough away that I don't know anyone up there. My own health keeps me from actually helping to put it together, but I'd be glad to help supervise... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Getting a contractor is really tough, right now -- I just got the roof on my house, and they haven't even started on the roof on my commercial building, yet. My SIL out in Okeechobee has all the plans and finances to put an addition on his house, but has gone through 3 or 4 contractors so far, they just keep putting him off doing hurricane repairs. We still have many people living in travel trailers in their front yard while waiting to get new ceiling drywall, etc. Mold issues are getting worse. It's been 7 months, and it might be years before we get back to normal.

Thanks for the input guys....

I will keep "pushing this to the top" in hopes of a responce I can live with...

I would rather hire a contractor because of the liability issues...

Its a rather large building and will take some skill and TIME to assemble...

Thanks again guys and keep those ideas coming...
