Help with 3rd function.

Hello, I need some help with adding a grapple to my tractor. I have a 03 SAME ARGON 50 with a QUIKE 710 loader. The stick has the 12vdc switches installed so that is what I would like to use to control the grapple. I have the grapple almost complete,it will have just 1 2500# cylinder. My problem is where to get pressure and return for the cylinder. I think that my rear remote will require me to lift up for pressure and push down for return. I would rather just use the 2 switches on the stick. I will be using a single spool-double acting valve. I am trying to get around the $1200.00 kit that the dealer sells.

You have two choices, either an electric diverter connected to the curl/dump work ports of the loader valve or a single spool electric third function soleniod valve connected in series with the loader valve's power beyond. Kits for either will run you about $500 from WR Long. You can also source the parts yourself from Surplus Center for about half that.

There are litterally dozens of post here that describe what you are trying to attempt. Some poeple have gone with the diverter while others (like me) have gone with the third function electric solenoid valve. Plumbing either is a snap and instructions have been posted here several times for each.

Grapples and their installation are a very popular topic here. Do a little searching here on TBN and you will get all the info you ever wanted to know about this type of setup. Good luck.

Thanks for the info. I think I will go with the single spool 12vdc valve. Would this be a single spool,double acting,open center valve? I have found the valve new for about $100.00.
I plan to post some pic's of the building of my grapple. I am having the 3/4" plate cut out in the sweeping c pattern. I am cutting enough for 60" width but may cut down to 48" to save a few pounds. Thanks again!

Yes, that is correct.
