If it's like on my 4010, the fuel filter assembly is bolted to the frame with a single 12 mm bolt. Remove the bolt and lift and tilt the fuel filter assembly upside down to get a pair of channel locks onto the ring. This is what I did even the last couple fuel filter changes, because I don't like working blind putting the filter and glass back in place.
I couldn't budge the ring with it in place the first time. Doing the above, it was easy.
On my 4010, you can't use a socket to loosen the 12mm all the way, because of interference against the FEL mechanism. Hopefully, you have more room on the 2520. If not, just use a box end rachet wrench or an open end 12 mm.
Don't forget to turn the fuel off. There should be a valve just above the filter assembly.
