Hi, I want to buy a King Kutter II tiller for my tc 40 with hydro and it has 17.5 X 24 R4 industrials. On Page 4-10 of my operators manual it states 51.2" dished in and 67.4" dished out. Then on page 2-30 of my operators manual it says not adjustable dished out only whats up with this? I wanted to buy a 60 inch tiller but was wondering if I might possibly be able to pull a 72 inch with the hydro and all. I live in Iowa and the dirt is black. Has anyone used a 72 inch with a tc 40 hydro or know whats up with the wheel spacing? A 60 inch wouldn't cover my rear tire tracks unless the wheels can be dished in so any answers are much appreciated.

Thanks dirtyharry45

Why not buy a tiller that can be off set?

With an HST transmission, you can vary your speed as needed for the tiller. Buy the 72" and don't worry about the wheel spacing. I love my KKII 72" tiller behind my TC45D. Your TC40D should handle it with ease also.

BTW: if you ever want to use less than the full 72" width, just take off a row of tines. You won't need to, but you could. I would NOT buy a 60" tiller for your tractor. Don't worry, be happy. Buy the 72".

My TC40D and I are very happy with my Landpride 72" Tiller. The tractor has no problem with the tiller, the tiller just dislikes my clay. If it starts buckin' and bouncin' just let up a bit on the "go pedal" and everything is fine. With black dirt you will show that soil who's boss.

You have more than enough power to pull the 72" one. I have the KKII 72". I would definately not go any narrower than the width of your tires. That is one one the good things about being a hyro transmission, you can go as fast or as slow as you want;)

My TC40D (Hydro) has no problem handling my 72" KKII in Michigan clay. The only time I have stalled the tractor is when I have tried going to fast through wet clay. It is like trying to mix pottery material, not till soil.

I absolutely love my Woods 72" I use it on my tc33d without any bogdown. You will really enjoy the work your tiller (no matter what brand) does. Definitely go with the 72". Good luck.

Well thanks for all the input! The new 72" King Kutter II tiller is at it's new home in my Morton building. I drove to the closest TSC yesterday afternoon after selling hogs and picked it up.
I think I got quite a deal too! $1499 I wonder if they had it priced as a 50" inch or they had it so long and didn't realize the price increases. Their website says $1779. I prepped it today in the garage adding fluids and grease to the zerks. I had to run to town and get a couple new 6mm zerks though as the two in the crosses were the tiny mini zerks. I went to grease them and all it did was flow around it. Why would companies use that ***? It's not like I want to change my hose tip every time it needs greased!
The only bad news is that the weather has turned to crap! It was raining so hard with hail last night I had a hard time finding my way out of the cornfield with the diskripper! Now they are talking snow! I may not get to try the tiller until spring on the wife's garden.
This miniature farming is almost as fun as the big equipment!

Way to go, Harry! Hope the weather cooperates so you can have some fun with that tiller. If you have any clay in your soil, DO NOT under any circumstances try to till. I know a guy who did that and I. . . he. . . clogged his tines with sticky mud and had to wait for it to dry so he could chip it out.
