2012 Kubota BX25
Hello everybody,

Newbie here. I have been reading this site for several years. Finally have a 2012 bx25. Used, from a private seller. Changed all fluids at 51 hours. Concerned with the brake pedal. Tractor will not stop unless rear speed control pedal is pressed. Operators manual says 1 to 1.4 inches of free travel. Mine is 4 times that. Manual says to loosen RH locknut and extend RH turnbuckle to end of thread. OK, no problem. Then, loosen LH locknut to adjust LH rod length-------. Cannot find the LH locknut, turnbuckle or rod. I have traced the RH turnbuckle and rod back to where it goes into the transmission. Has anybody adjusted their brake pedal and have an insight as to where the LH turnbuckle is, or has kubota changed the linkage to just the right side of tractor? Thanks, in advance

Ok, I may be totally out to lunch on this because I really have no idea--------BUT. I see no mention of a rod in your description of the RH parts. Is it possible that there are separate locknuts for the turnbuckle adjustment and another for the rod adjustment but the locknuts are simply on the opposite sides of the same assembly? Thus, the reference to RH and LH. I wouldn't think that there would be 2 separate rods going back to the transmission one on each side for a single brake petal tractor. I'd go out and look at mine except that I can't at this particular time.

The BX2660 (2009) manual shows only RH rod adjustments that are rather conveniently located just in front of the rear tire. The locknut is 14 mm. A BX25 might be different however . The BX2660 shows no LH adjustment rod. Cheers, Mike

There is only a RH rod and RH turnbuckle, so I am going to adjust them while ignoring the LH locknut and rod as described in the manual

Welcome winedown. I may be wrong but if you go to kubota.com and look up your model's brake rod linkage thru their parts listings I believe it'll give you a better diagram of what's there and be easier to figure out than the limited info and diagrams in your manual. My bx1860 just has one rod.
It's worth a look at least. Good luck and let us know how you fare.

Thanks for all the suggestions everybody.
Finally had a chance to work on the brake pedal problem today. Actually there turned out to be a couple of problems. First there was a lot of dead grass around the linkage where it enters the transmission. Very tight, but was able to clean it out pretty good and found a 1/2 inch piece of gravel that may or may not have caused some of the problem, but would have eventually. I was able to adjust the linkage. There is only one rod and turnbuckle on the RH side. Again, pretty tight, but able to get the free travel to about one and a quarter inch. Put everything back together and fired it up. Got brakes! Thanks, winedown.
