Help me please!!!!

I hate to say it but I got a great deal on a tractor, but now I need help to identify the model. I was told it was a Massey Ferguson Industrial mod. 40. I have serial number 9A 97639 it is a 4 cyl diesel, Perkins. It has a shuttle shift and can use a rear loader. I took pictures and hope some one could help me with my problems. Also if any site for servicing same. Will by service book but will wait to see what model I have first. Thanks for your time, Terry the wana be farmer.

tractordata.com lists a model 40 industrial as having a 3 cyl. Perkins. You said yours is a 4 cyl. so may be a different model. Steinertractor.com and ssbtractor.com have parts and manuals for the model 40 but I'm not sure that's what you have. The models 31 and 50 have 4 cylinder motors. Perhaps contacting those dealers may shed some light on which model yours is. Also from tractordata a model 40 only weighs 3650 lb which seems a little light to be your pictured tractor.

Hi looks to me like you have got a MF50 not a 40 looks like an early one as it doesn't have a MF cab good luck you obviously can't find an ID tag anywhere ?

Well went to a dealership today and they said you were right! MF 50 but they said they would send in serial numbers to find out more. I guess they have MF 50 A,b.Cs ect. Not sure what the diff is but as soon as they know for sure they are ordering owners man. for me. Cant wait till weekend to take for a spin. Thanks again everyone for your help, I have spent hours on line and found nothing on servicing or repairs to this tractor.
