Help me identify this John Deere.

My friend inherited this tractor. Can you tell me about it, it's age, specifications, and potential value? Also, he has not tried to crank it. Certainly the battery is dead. Would it be a 6 volt? What does he need to do to try to crank it?

I've looked online. I don't see much info on this tricycle version. I would expect it to be of lesser value.

The 1010 / 2010 were, to many, the worse tractors Deere ever made.

I'm thinking the narrow front makes it a row crop. ?

Yes 1010 with narrow frt axles is the rowcrop version of which I think there were a lot fewer built than other 1010 versions. I have no idea on value but at least it's the less problematic gasoline version. Electrical system from factory was 12 volt positive ground.

Diesel engines with pre-combustion chambers & glow plugs were more problem than gasoline engines,3 pt rockshaft seals were prone to leak,dry disk brakes didn't operate that well when tractors were new. Cyl blocks & diesel cyl heads were prone to cracking especially if engine ever got very hot. Presolite starters were awful. Hyd pump in bottom of clutch housing on a 2010 was difficult to R&R.
