Help! LT1024 driving slower

I have a LT1024 (24hp B&S 50"deck) that only has 16.7 hrs on it and has been garage kept and well maintained since purchasing in 8/04. Almost everything seems to be working fine, but the top end speed and ability to climb inclines is noticeably slower than it was originally. Any suggestions? New belt? New spring?
