Folks,

HELP! I hit a rock and punched a hole in my friends Kubota 2600Dt's oil pan...can anyone tell me how to repair it without taking it off. It seems like you have to take half the tractor apart to get the oil pan off because it is devided and the drive shaft to the front wheels runs through the divide.

Thanks,

Jim

Just take the shield off of the drive shaft, take the roll pins out of the driveshaft couplers, slide the couplers onto the driveshaft and it will drop right out of your way. As far as the oil pan you might be better off to replace it rather than patch it. (if the tractor has a loader you will have to remove the center loader support bracket also) It shouldn't take to long to do that.

Why not just repair it once it is off???? I patched a aluminum oil pan on a BMW with epoxy for a neighbor many years ago and it is still holding to this day......

Thats exactly why I hate to borrow! the instructions given will help you get to the pan. I would want to replace it not ifx it. Junkman is right about his repair but I wouldn't fix it that way if borrowed without informing the owner.

I'm with you, Art. I seldom borrow anything, but if I do and it gets damaged, the damaged parts all get replaced with new parts. Anything I borrow will go back to the owner in as good or better condition than when I got it.

I would never be at ease knowing that the life blood of my tractor engine is held in by a dab of epoxy that could be knocked off by something as common as a cornstalk. I would also sleep beter knowing I returned the tractor in as good of condition as I got it.

That's exactly why I never loan. Folks seem to treat things as if it's their own which is never quite as nicely as I treat my things...
