I have been looking for several months and have gotten several quotes from nice dealers around the area. I am looking for a loader to these machines along with a box blade and MM 60"ish finish mower.

Any thoughts on which machine and why??

We have 40 acres with a 0.3 mile gravel driveway. I will be mowing about 3 acres and have 26 acres in woods. I am here in Kansas so not much snow anymore, but would need to use it when it does. Also, use a box blade to maintain the driveway. Finally, just help with new landscaping and fence building...

Please give any thoughts you may have. I am leaning towards the 2210 so that it why I started here.

I can get a 2210 with 62" MM, loader, front blade, and box blade for 14754.98

Thanks!!!

jpierce,

Can't speak for the other brands, but I have a 2210 and am very happy with it. The 62" MMM cuts like a dream and the tractor handles very well. One thing you mentioned is fencing; the 2210 has a limited Cat-1 3PH and if you're planning on using a post-hole digger then there could be height issues, although at least one person on this forum has talked about using one on his 2210. Test drive them all, and good luck with your decision.

You are comparing 2 different classes of machines. The JD and the Kubota are both SUB-CUT size tractors.

The Kioti is a small frame CUT and is similar in size to the JD 4110 or the Kubota B7510. Kioti does not make a SUB-CUT size machine.

Of the 3 machines, the Kioti would likely out tractor the other two for tractor type work, but the other two would likely be better for mowing the lawn. I really think your tractors are a mis-match, comparing the higher ground clearance and larger frame Kioti to the two Sub-CUTS is sort of like comparing a gun to a couple of steak knives. . . each has its place, but they are designed for different tasks.

To take this thought farther, if this is your only tractor on a 40 acre parcel, you should be looking at something in the 30-35HP range at least. Forget the SubCUT altogether unless you already have a larger machine.

Seems to me that the size of the lot isn't as important as what you plan to do with the land. If you have 40 acres of forrest that you plan to leave completely natural and a half acre lawn, you could get by with a riding lawn mower and a small trailer. If on the other hand, you plan to make some trails, widen the current lawn, make some pasture, keep a few horses, then you should be looking at a larger machine.

I don't think number of acres dictates the size of the machine although it is cirtainly a factor. Also, don't fool yourself, if you have a bigger tractor and a good chunk of land, you will find good uses for the extra size and HP, I'm just saying that lots of acres don't require a large machine unless you want to be able to do big michine stuff.

You're right... it depends on what you want to do with it. To maintain 3 acres a sub would do just fine. I perfer the Kubota... but thats just my take on it!

A big thanks for all the info - Just a pretty large chunk of change to invest in. I probably can do ok with any of these. I guess my main concern is snow removal at this point but don't really get much snow here in Kansas, so perhaps I shouldn't worry....

I also might use it to dig out a pond someday, but if it takes a little time due to size I can handle it (as stuck behind a desk all week...)

decisions, decisions.....

None of those machines is going to dig a pond in any reasonable time. Small tractors (even pretty large ones) are not well suited for digging a pond. A bulldozer or excavator are really the better tools for that task. Digging even a small pond will likely take a full summer of evening work with a small tractor.

As for the snow removal, either the JD or the Kubota, with a front mount snow blower will do a fantastic job of getting rid of all the snow you are ever likely to see. I don't know if the Kioti has a front mount snow blower, but if you don't mind turning around and driving backwards, you can get a 3pt snowblower for the Kioti.

While the Kioti is physically the largest of the 3 tractors, it has the lowest horsepower. That slightly reduced HP will be a factor in limiting the size of a snowblower on the Kioti.

I would consider the JD 2210 or consider going to the JD 4010. Or save some funds for attachments and get a used 4000! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
