See the Thread under John Deere // JD Buying/Pricing

The truth: 4310: the good, the bad, mostly ugly

Go for it. The deal sounds very good as does the dealer.

My L3010HST is being delivered in a few hours. Can't wait!

Good luck;

Sounds okay. Just out of curiosity, why are you going for the DT model? Most folks who intend to use the FEL go with HST.

thanks for the comment as to your question why the dt, i have used a hst on a riding mower and its fine i just hthink the gears and clutch will give more pwer and the pto is greater on this than the hst.. i also was not crzy about the pedal they have i may regret it i dont know.l. wish you could use a tractor or 60 days before you buy it.. or how ab out gettin some bota owners close to each other to have a club and disuss things they haave or dont have and lets share some ideas in person and try out eaach others machines, i have been researching for months, i must admit this site is the best and has brought me the most information from some unbiased people i believe a dl r will tell you anthing i almost bought a deere 790 , little does the dlr know his attitude is what turned me off. im in sales and it just blows my mind how lack these guys are with a customer

the price sounds ok, and i would go with the local dealer if he is as good as u say, have u tried an hst ? granted u do loose a little power, but in my estimation the advantages of hst more than make up for a little less hp. as i am suremost will agree that urun out of traction before u run out of power! just my thoughts. let us know ur decesion. and welcome to the forum.

The HST does have less HP on the PTO, but honestly I've never missed it. My meadow is a 20% slope, and I have no trouble using a 72" finish mower going uphill, or pulling several logs for firewood, or tilling, or anything else for that matter. I use my L3010 hard, and have never needed more PTO HP. Locally, my dealer doesn't even have DTs on his lot...says he can't sell 'em.

Sounds like a good price to me. I looked at getting the L3010DT before I bought my NH-TC35, so I am familiar with the L3010. I think you will be happy with the shuttle tranny over the HST. Since the shifter for forward and reverse are so close to the steering wheel it is easier to use for FEL work than most people realize, plus you get the extra PTO hp to boot. I'd say go for it!/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

That's a decent price, not stellar, but good, and if it also gives you a supportive local dealer, then it's a great price. Why the Woods FEL? The Kubota LA 482 is the usual. Whatever, Woods stuff is fine. As to DT - yup, more power to the wheels and the pto. Have you considered GST? From my dealer the price difference wasn't much, and Kubota lists the GST pto power identical to the DT option. It's a bit easier with the forward / reverse transition, and no need to clutch when shifting gears. I found it a decent compromise in the DT vs. HST debate. I purchased a 3410 - priced about $500 more than the 3010 - same weight and configuration - 3 more horses on the pto - and in DT or GST, a good compromise if you're considering stepping up to the next sized Kubota, the L3710 - which is much much heavier (i.e., dents lawns - even the L3010/3410 should not be used on wet ground) yet has only 3 more pto horses.
