Tractor
nope
Alright, been looking to pick up a tractor with a bucket, never owned one of these older real tractors, just the oversized lawn mower varieties.

Looking at a tractor that is allegedly a 1970 MF, the only tag the guy sent me appears to be from the loader.

Any input would be appreciated... what to look at, what to test, common issues, etc.

Thanks in advance. 00Q0Q_8jLWFRXUkOz_0ne0hq_1200x900.jpg00h0h_bPJtxnEViHo_0ne0hq_1200x900.jpg00s0s_2qzSHfdXjIh_0ne0hq_1200x900.jpg01717_iG2D8RPBjyV_0ne0hq_1200x900.jpg00707_9H1jM8zbomr_0ne0hq_1200x900.jpgResized_20201231_075758001.jpgResized_20201231_075842001.jpgResized_20210101_130913002.jpgResized_20210101_130832001.jpgResized_20210101_130825001.jpgResized_20210101_130802001.jpgResized_20210101_130753001.jpgResized_20210101_130745001.jpg

The yellow underneath and inside is likely the original industrial paint color. If its a 1970 year it could be an original year industrial 20 which did use the model 32 loader. The rear fenders look right for a cab model vs an open station model.

So that would be a MF20?

You'd have to find the badge on the tractor to verify but yes. From what I can see it's a Massey Ferguson 20 industrial (not to be confused with the agricultural) model

The serial number on the data plate shown in photo 10, The one under the dash would help. What type of engine does it have, gas or diesel, and how many cylinders? Also it is not a 20. The 20 did not have a hardnose (1" thick steel) it had a soft nose (sheet metal). The 20 also did not have disc brakes, they had drum brakes. I think its a 40, the hardnose and disc brakes are good indicators.
