Help. Ford 800 1940's? Carb needed.

I'm looking for this carburetor for my Father-in-law's old broken tractor. I need it with throttle and choke on the right hand side of the mounted carb (right side of carb as viewed from the driver's seat) for what we think is a 1940's era, Ford 800, 4 cylinder gas engine.

We did eBay a carb, but it's an identical mirror in that the throttle and choke controls are on the left hand side of the installed carb.

Photos attached, so if any of you antique Ford guys know about these... I'm in need for a replacement/remanufactured/China copy carb.

All you need is that number TSX-765.

I am willing to be bet you can just rebuilt that carb with a kit and save yourself a lot of money.

While sitting in seat facing front,carb on 800 is on your left side,carb on all the Ns is on your right side. One reason you might be having problems matching the carb is because the first 800 ford was built in the mid 50s. Prior to the the first overhead valve engine in 1953 called Jubilee,Fords were called 8N,9N and 2N,all were 4 cylinder flathead engines. If the thumbnail size metal tag is still on carb,use that number to identify carb.

Okay, so using that TSX number on Amazon I turn up a handful of incorrect ones with the linkages on the wrong side, but there is one for $99 that looks like an exact copy.

Ok,that list is 500/600/2000 series tractors that were built from 1953 and later (no mention of 800 series). If you have other questions,now or later on,ask away and someone can probably give you answers.

That one is $219, would you suspect that it's a better carburetor based on the price? I know my father-in-law... If there was $3.99 one, he would buy that.

Yeah I would be hesitant. The two reviews that it got do look good so who knows?

If your F-I-L wants to save the most $$ then get a rebuild kit for 1/3 of the Amazon carb. I got a tractor basically given to me. I had never done a single darn thing with a tractor. The carb was a complete disaster. It had acorns in it cause the air intake tube was off.

Took it apart and cleaned it really well, clean and replaced any and all jets. Do lots of reading on this forum as well as others on Marvel Schebler carbs. Tons of really good info out there. Ordered mine from Steiner. Check out some other tractor forums and do a lot of reading.

Let that sucker soak in carb cleaner and scrub/brush/scrape that thing until it is clean, then clean some more. You can do it.
