Help! Deere 4100 w/410 Loader Question

I recently purchased a used Deere 4100 with about 400 hours. Overall the unit looks and operates almost like new. I'm having an issue with the 410 loader though. I've already removed it a few times but for some reason can't get it off now. After lowering the loader to the ground and retracting all cylinders, a quick release handle/latch is pushed forward which moves a support plate off of the front weight bracket. Then, extending the loader lift arm cylinders should push the loader forward, raise the loader masts off of the tractor, and lower the loader frame/stand. Then you disconnect the hydraulic hoses and back out of the loader. Unfortunately, when I extend the lift cylinders the loader lifts just like in normal operation, and the masts don't raise and the frame/stand doesn't lower.

What am I doing wrong?

Do you seem to have pressure down? Maybe one of your hoses aren't coupled good? Can you lift the tractor front end with the loader?

Are you sure the front plate is completely releasing off the front weight bracket? If not, the loader will not dismount from the tractor.

On my 430, I have to put a little down pressure on the loader to get it to disconnect. It would be worth a try.

Yep, I am able to lift the wheels off the ground and the front plate is loose, not stuck on the weight bracket.

I looked at the manual (I hope this is the correct one) did you "Remove spring locking pin and pin and raise latch plate retainer" ? This appears to come before "Lift up on latch and push forward all the way into notch"

The pin is actually not in place, so the latch plate retainer moves out of the way on it's own. The latch plate has dropped down from the weight bracket, but for some reason when I extend the lift cylinders the loader raises rather than dropping down it's stand.

If you have been able to get the latching (support) plate off of the front weight bracket, then you should be free to "raise" the loader causing the support to go down to the ground.
The way you explain the procedure is correct. The result you get (loader raising instead of the support dropping) means that the latch is still holding, or something else is holding that part of the frame enough that it counteracts the weight of the bucket (you do have the bucket on, correct? )..

Yep...the bucket is on. :laughing: Although I've been known to overlook things....

That's what I was thinking, basically that something was holding/sticking thus preventing the frame from dropping. The bottom of the front weight bracket is still in contact with the top of the frame, but I can't see anything that would cause it to stick. Maybe if I put some weight in the bucket it will be enough to loosen whatever is sticking.

Weight in the bucket might help, but be sure that the locking plate is tilted back enough that it is free from the weight bracket. Sometimes they can get bent (bumping into something with the FEL raised) and will need some prying to get them to release their hold on the weight bracket. Should be free when unlocking and pivot back and forth freely. Sounds like yours is not. A picture will help confirm some answers that may help.

Hallelujah! It worked. With the locking plate off of the front weight bracket, I moved the loader into a pile of mulch and started to lift. The weight was enough to knock the frame down. 30 seconds later, the loader is off. I just noticed that a previous post mentioned something about needing down pressure on the loader.

Still not sure what the issue was, as the locking plate was free and clear of the weight bracket - I could move it back and forth with my hands.
