Good evening, its been a while since my last entry but have a new problem I'm hoping someone can help me with. I sold my N.H. 478 mower conditioner and bought a Kuhn GMD55 select which is a 5 disk cutter. The ag store I bought it from checked it out before I paid for it and it was in nice shape with the exception of the blades. Our weather warmed up so I sharpened up the old blades (the business sent me the wrong blades) until my new ones arrived today. I cut my small field yesterday and the grass was a little thin but the mower ran great and didn't slow down at all. Today I tried cutting my neighbors field and the grass is a lot thicker. The mower started slowing down almost immediately and then would almost stop and not cut anything (I'm using a J.D. 2555 with 77hp at the mower and 65 or so at the PTO). I made several passes only going a short distance at a time and the mower would keep slowing down/stopping. At the same time I smelled burnt rubber so I checked the belts (they looked to be adjusted correctly as far as I can tell-about 3/4 to an inch of play in the middle). I have seen multiple videos of these cutters going 8-10 mph or so and doing fine. I'm not sure what the problem is and am out of ideas. Hay season is here and I need to cut back my learning curve and get going. Any ideas out there would be great. Thanks.
