Hello All,
I guess this is where I jump in!!
I recently went looking to purchase an Industrial Tractor with backhoe and joined this site about a month ago. I have a Kabota 3430 to use around the farm but did not want to kill it by attaching a backhoe to it, besides it doesn't have a loader.
I emailed John_Bud and called Tony Jacob because of the well of knowledge they possessed in the Industrial Tractor arena and they seem to like Fords as much as I do.
After looking over a few tractors and backhoes I finally came across something last week that I thought I could live with so I am now the proud owner of a:
Ford 820 Tractor with 19-97 Industrial Loader and Sherman 54F100 Power Digger.
It came with new tires, new gas tank, new radiator, 12 volt conversion and some new hydraulic hoses, brochures and service manuels. I bought it on Ebay with much fear and trepidation but everything looks pretty much as advertised and I can live with the few surprises I've found.
For those of you who have mastered the ID code please help me out. Right behind the starter are the numbers 820 (which I consider the model #) and the serial # 136094 with diamonds before and after. Any deciphering you can give me will be appreciated.
The Loader is model # 19-97 with serial # 5889 and The Sherman Power Digger is model #54F100 with serial # 1798.
So far I've counted about 27 hydraulic hoses on the entire rig. Approximately 7 have been replaced. The hoe has a busted hose and the loader has a busted hose. The bucket cylinder on the hoe is leaking but other than those things everything else is functional. I just got it delivered from Pennsylvania 2 days ago and I work 12 hour shifts so I have not had a chance for pictures but they will come soon.
The rig is a beast!! It starts up right away with a little choke and runs well. Because of the mild nature of my Kabota I was not ready for the imbalance of a 2700 lb. backhoe on the back of the Ford. I took it up a hill to park it and relax the hydraulics to replace hoses and I lifted the front end a foot off the ground before remembering I had the equivalent of a small car hanging off the back. Now I know why all the pictures the seller had on Ebay showed 6 cinder blocks in the loader bucket.
Well enough of my on and on. So... I was up at 5:30 AM today looking her over and yes I am a little excited about all the possibilities this rig has in store but can you blame me? This is my first piece of HEAVY METAL and I feel like a kid at Christmas.
Please feel free to give me the good...the bad...and the ugly with antidotes in between about this purchase. I look forward to your input!!
