I have been a lurker here for a few weeks now, but am starting to get serious about a tractor purchase. Still looking for more information to help me get what I need(want).

My wife and I have a 5 acre piece of property that we are turning into a hobby farm - have chickens and raised bed gardens currently, but want to get a milk cow next. Mostly need(want) a tractor to help with some of the landscaping chores, hauling cut wood and possibly creating some in-ground row crops. We have very rocky soil where we are so this will be a chore!

Thanks for reading.

Thanks for the welcomes. I am leaning toward a 30-40HP, probably LS at the moment. The purchase will have to wait probably until around September, so I have some time to ask questions and kick some tires hopefully.

Welcome!

You'll have lots of tractor colors to choose from out in Taylor, Tx. Highly recommend Coufal-Prater if you decide on something green. Also recommend Hay King in Taylor as well. I own several of their implements.

Now, if it would just rain...

To TBN Rodney. Make sure you test drive several to get the feel of what you really want before making a decision.

I hear you on the rain! That would be nice.
I bought my riding mower from Coufal-Prater 2 years ago. At the time, I was not in the market for anything larger - we had just bought the property and didn't know what we needed. Wish I knew then what I know now! From what I have gathered here so far, it seems that JD's are more expensive for what you get than say an LS. Haven't actually checked with the dealer yet, though.

A Big Texas Howdy from East Texas. Before and after you get your tractor become very familiar with Tractor and Farm Safety. There is lots of Info here on all kinds of subjects.
