Hello everyone. I was directed to this net by surfing Google looking for tips on replacing my 49 8N Fords rusted out fuel tank which I have started doing yesterday. I got the hood off, which was my main concern. Kind of a pain in the butt for something so simple, but that was mostly due to 60+ year old rusty bolts and nuts. I look forward to reading and sharing information here. I have owned my 8N for several years now and it has always performed great, but I have always had a problem with rust and crud in the fuel tank stopping up the carb. The tank finally developed a small rusted though leak, so I began a search for a fix or replacement. I got lucky and found a new 8N gas tank on eBay for $108. Since owning a small tractor, I do not know that I could ever go back to being without one. We only have about 2 acres combined, but the tractor is so handy at helping us to do landscaping and yard maintenance (and at my age, I can use all the help I can get). I really wish we had a location to plow a small garden, but our trees and neighbor trees have never let anything much grow around here but weeds. Anyway glad to be here and will read and post more soon.
