Hi all. I purchased a Yanmar SC2400 in March and thought I'd sign up here. I read quite a few threads prior to purchasing as part of my research. If you know me, I over-analyze everything. I had a big Excel workbook listing all the spec's, implements/attachments, pricing, warranty, everything. The wife was like... "just pick one already!"
I'm not going to knock or criticize anybody's choices because I looked at and priced the Yanmar, JD, Massey and Kubota. I got what I feel was a very good deal on the Yanmar and the dealer is the closest too me of the four. I've bought Stihl equipment and my Cub Enforcer 48 from him and have been treated well. Again, this was just my decision making process and your mileage may vary but... I ruled out the Kubota because I felt I was getting something comparable to the BX2370 for a BX1870 price. I really liked the MF but it was priced several thousand more. The JD was almost the exact same money and I liked the drive-on-off deck but... the rest of the tractor just felt a little bit cheaper to me and it seemed like JD removed a few features from the 1025 to hit a price point with the 1023. Again, I think I would have been happy with any of these but the combination of price/features/overall impression and dealer proximity/relationship drove me to the Yanmar.
It replaced my zero turn for mowing and an ATV for plowing the driveway. We have three acres and about 250' uphill, paved driveway, three cars wide at the top with a two car turnaround. It's a bit of overkill for the mowing duty but oh well... The SC2400 replaces two pieces of equipment and adds the utility of the loader and 3-point implements I can borrow from my neighbor. I miss the recreational aspect of the ATV a bit but the tractor does a better job of plowing and frees up space in the garage.
I have purchased two accessories that I've been overwhelmingly pleased with that I found through this site and I feel it only fair to mention them:
Compact Tractor Attachments & Lawn and Garden Tractor Hitches
Carrera,Cayman,BMW,Tow Hook License Plate,John Deere,Kubota
The mower axles are awesome for opening up floor space in the garage in the winter when the deck is off the tractor; I thought about building a "stand", of sorts. The mower axles are a much better solution, at least for me. I love the Heavy Hitch since I can use it as a weight bracket and be able to jockey the utility trailer around the yard easily.
That's about it for me... I'm an IT guy and a big gearhead/racing fan. As an avid F1 fan, I've been to Montreal and Indy both, several times, but not Texas, yet, and I'm hoping 2014 brings about a full recovery for Michael Schumacher.
Looking forward to getting to know some of you better and tapping into the collective knowledge of the community, and contributing where I can.
Happy New Year,
Aaron
