First, I would like to say thanks to all major contributors to the forums. I have learned lots in a short time related to my ongoing tractor search. Also, being a farmboy at heart, I think I will enjoy the forums even after my search is over.

Second, I'm going to an auction tomorrow with enough cash to get into some huge trouble... :D Looking at a JD 4115 with a JD front end loader & 72" deck. No details available as far as year, etc. but it has 175 hrs. From browsing the forums it looks like the 4115 is a pretty good piece of equipment, but I'd like to hear any/all comments or opinions, and any thoughts on current value, given the sketchy info I have so far on the tractor. Thanks in advance...

Thanks KD... Will check out the links and try to be prepared. My big concern in going to an auction is knowing when to fold if the bidding gets out of hand. I've seen some crazy stuff happen at auctions. I don't think I will be able to nail down the 'fair price' range until I've seen the tractor, but looking at some advertised prices for similar models will give me an idea.

Nice pics on your Picasa link btw... I gotta have one of those grapplers :D

Looking forward to posting a pic of my new toy. Thanks again.

Welcome,
As said before very simular to the 2520 which has bigger rear tires and two more h.p. for the steering. I have had mine for four years with no major troubles. My 4115 handles a 60" mmm, a bush hog rdth72 finish mower, a 50" tiller, a 6 1/2 ft Curtis power angle plow and a 5 ft Woods rotary cutter with no problems. Hope this helps. Larry

Thanks again to all for the info. Don't know if there are any forum rules on posting prices - if it's appropriate and anyone's interested let me know.

I think things got a little out of hand, and a couple of other bidders seemed to feel the same. Compared to some of the dealer prices I've seen on machine finder, etc. I could buy comparable from a dealer at advertised sell for less. My thought is if I'm going to spend that much money, may want to consider buying from a dealer and get the support. This tractor appeared to be in excellent condition with low hours, 410 loader & 72"MM. Model 4115HST, 2004. I will also say the demand must be out there because there were several bidders.

Also looked at a 955 in a dealer's lot on the way home. Don't know a lot about the differences, but I really like the looks of the x55 series. They appear to be very well built also, so may check these out also.

So no new toy yet. Kind of disappointed I can't post a photo, but a day spent looking at tractors can't be all bad...

Larry,
2004 JD 4115HST, 72"MM, 410FEL, 175 HRS, excellent condition
Winning bid $17.5K. I think this was high based on what I've seen online, but not an expert at all. This could be a good thing if you have one to sell...
