I just got a very HEAVY DUTY Turner flail mower (Turbomower 64 - made in England)) and was wondering if anyone knew anything about them, have the specs for it or know where I can get a manual. It is in pretty good shape and I would like to know more about it. I don't know what it weighs but would guess it is north of 1000lbs. I am not even sure I am going to keep it but would like to learn about it more before I decide.
THANK YOU

Forgot to ask - anyone know what these are worth or what they cost new? I am guessing it was used for roadside clearing perhaps?

Happy New Year to you,

I wish to welcome you as the newest Member of the Flail Mower Nation.

You are the proud owner of a "Bomford" Turner Flail Mower,
parts are available and I think I have the right manual for it;
do not let it out of your sight!!!!!

I fo believe the manual you are looking for is the one I have for you.

I cannot upload it here as it is to large unfortunately; if you could send me a PM with your E-mail address I will forward the manual to you with no delay when you have the opportunity.

I forgot to ask is that ground hog loaded and locked? It isn' phil from Punxatawney I hope???

!7,992 mowers to go!

Is your Cub Lowboy the older type with the offset operators station?

I think our 1969 unit cub lowboy was the year they changed the design.

Thank Leonz! As for old Phil I have not heard anything about him recently. I am far enough down here in WV that the news does not travel too fast.

My Cub is the square hood, lowboy with the off set station. It is in the process of being rebuilt currently and I hope to have it totally redone by spring. I plan on setting it up low and wide so I can use it also as a mower where the larger Kubota may not go as easily! Plus to be honest it is just sort of fun to mow with!

Do you have any idea what my new mower weights? I know it is HEAVY, even on my 5100 you can really tell it is back there!
THANKS AGAIN

I am adding a few photos I took today to give everyone an idea of what I am talking about. I also took one underneath so you all can see the knives (any ideas on that kind they are)
Thanks for all the information

The rear roller on the back provides the
user with a level mowing front to prevent
turf scalping and knive damage to an absolute minimum.

The rear roller is an extension of the flail mower frame
aiding in stability of the mower cutting height and-
the rear roller provides the owner with
another great option at no extra cost too;
its a built in striper at no extra charge.
The lawn striper being something you have
buy as an extra attachment for a fuel guzzling
rotary mower.

Your Bomford Turner mower knives are a scoop type heat treated mower knife. You will have to run it for a while and decide if you like how the cutting quality is if you are cutting nice sod or if mowing in the rough they will be fine for a long time.

Edit: be sure to contact flailmaster or one of the other fine seller of flail mower knives to order spares before you start doing any serious mowing time.

You will need several nut and bolt sets and several hangers and at least a dozen knives as spares

Please note- the purchase of a large number of knives and other spares will give you larger savings per knive when a purchase is needed.

End Edit.

Good info! Thank you
What kind of stuff can I cut this mower (thickness ?) ANy idea what these were used for - I was told roadside mowing.
I hooked it up to my 5100 today and it ran it without a hitch. I just ran it in light grass that was about 12" and over a few twigs at about 1/2 throttle without it slowing a bit. It does weight the rear end down bit however!!
