I have an insulated shed I have built for my wife to use for school activities. I have been looking at heating it with a small propane heater. Any suggestions on best type of heater for this application? Will be using a window unit for air and not really intersted in a mini-split.

Use a couple of this type,20,000btu,more than enough.Propane with standing pilot.
Tractor Supply and others.

A wall mounted and vented propane heater would be my choice.

An unvented heater would add a lot of moisture into the insulated building and cause problems.

If you do a permanent install, then you buy or rent a large propane tank that would make it super easy. Perhaps a propane stove/fireplace.

Pay attention to the square footage ratings of the different devices. It would be real easy to make that shed into an oven.

My shop is quite larger than yours but I use a DOUBLE HEAD propane heater that mounts to the top of a bbq tank.. u can run 1 or both heads for heat..
I also run a pedestal fan behind it on low to push the heated air to me.. works great..& A LOT cheaper than the kerosene heater I have..

I have a Tuff Shed - 10x18. I've insulated it, electrified it and sheathed the inner walls and ceiling. I use an electric heater to warm it. Much simpler and around here electricity is far cheaper than propane.

Plus - an electric heater does not have any of the concerns that may come with a propane setup.

And on the plus side, u could run it on a timer so it’s toasty warm when she goes to it..(probably not a good idea)

If it has power, have you cost compared it with a small pellet stove?

I'm a wood stove fan, but pellets are cleaner, easier, and hold a set temp.

I like the electric heater mentioned above for simplicity as well.

The ideas above are good ones…but personally, id look at a mini split to handle both. With such a small footprint and the fact that its insulated….youd be so much further ahead in the long run. And not have to bother with running propane or mess with pellets.

ive wired alot of tiny homes with mini splits, and they work so nice.
