Please help me determine how to apply the two red wires off of this engine's harness?

I have this mower wired minimally.
Just a simple battery charge off of engine, push putton start,
toggle switch for pto, toggle switch for kill.

That's how the briggs was installed.
The Loncin has a simple four pin harness emerging from it.

Please help me determine what to do with the two red pins/wires in the
harness pictured at the left of photo


(red) Hot 12v, (red) hot 12v, (blue) fuel solenoid 12v input, and black ground.

Are both the reds the same? does it matter which one is used to charge the
battery? Is it a direct connetion to the battery?

What exactly do I do with the two reds in addition to that? Is one for accessories like
lights?

Finally, where is a 20A fuse supposed to be placed in this very simple wiring setup?

Well that's some mixed satisfaction.
No response from 60 views.
But at least I'm less ashamed of myself for not knowing
where to connect two red wires from the harness of a small engine.
The blue is a given.... fuel solenoid. Just the hot side of the kill switch/disconnect.
The black is, well, a ground.

Just the two red wires? Really? Nobody?

Thousands and thousands of this exact motor are in use under various brands like Poulan, Husqvarna, Toro, etc.
But I can't seem to find a simple pinout that describes the two Red 12v pins in the harness plug it comes with.

You may have to put the blame on the subject title you posted.
Or the confusion in the post.. i.e. "not as easy..., but it is done" . If "done", nothing to respond to unless one reads further.

Hope someone will have an answer or a suggestion for you.. maybe after another 63 readers.. who read because they were curious what a Heart transplant means..

No need to be ashamed for asking a question. Others, like myself, are also waiting to hear what your wires go to..

And a few good pics of your dilemma pointing out the wires connected now (as in "done") and the remaining wires with no connection may lead to a suggestion or two.

Engine manual might have those wires in a description listed in the electrical section (which would have ignition, charging, fuel solenoid, etc). Have you tried the manufacturer web site for engine manuals (owners/operators, parts/diagrams, etc)?

Easy enough to find. Have attached what is available from the China site.

Look at page 10 in the owners manual, electrical diagram, (Plastic connector) both of those red wires are DC power out from the rectifier (available for powering or charging), the black wire is the engine kill wire, yellow is to power fuel shutoff solenoid.

Also that engine must have a 90 octane gas no methanol fuel!

There is no documentation on the charging circuit as to it's ampacity (total current output), but since it is a split in the circuit to two wires, both need fuses, fuses are used to protect wiring and the charge circuit. The one for the battery should be 20 Amp, the other should be 20 Amp or less (both depend on the wire gauge used in the circuit).

One note to the OP. Make sure that the wire to the fuel solenoid is active when you crank the engine.

I'm thinking at least one relay to ground and kill wire to kill engine when key switch is turned to off, the fuel solenoid needs to be to the key switch run tab. He has not posted about a starter on engine either.

All the 60 views are from people like me trying to figure out what a heart transplant has to do with a 1979 JD and who is this OP and where is he from........ Sounds like your heart came with no instructions and have no idea what this is so I pick BLK for ground Red for hot, Yellow for caution, this message will self destruct in 10.......

Is a relay really necessary for the kill switch? I've always used standard 20amp toggle switches for this on small engines without ever wearing out the contacts.
What else can I post about the starter on this? It is electric start. The starter connections are actually separate from what I'm trying to figure out on this socket.
Starter is just connected exactly as it was for the Briggs off of the solenoid.

exact same function. Correct? Why would they even put two identical hot wires in the harness?

thank you very much for the link. I thought my search skills were pretty good, but I couldn't locate that. Neither could customer support at Poulan and Husqvarna. And the 1800 numbers they provided for Loncin were out of service.

It was offered as a suggestion to get to a simple key switch start/shutoff solution. Your tractor do what you will, just more steps to remember

It offers options to the tractor/equipment manufacturer or end user on how to add options for being powered. Offering 2-20 Amp circuits versus 1-40 Amp (wire and connectors sizes are reduced therefore more economical).
