How old is your hay wagon? I have a 1950's David Bradley sold by sears roebuck and co. Still has the original metal plate attached to the running gear. Sixteen feet long wood bed that I treat with sealer each year. Tires are well worn but not bad for the age. It has hauled many tons of hay, running gear shortened for many years to haul a 550 gallon water tank (cistern filling days) but that is how the running gear was designed. Back to original length with hay bed installed. Great for garage sales and hauling bulky items. One of the most useful attachments I have.

I've got one old John Deere 6-ton(653????) from the '50's. It's one with leaf spring suspension. 3 more Korey 10-ton that I bought in the early '80's. After we moved last fall, and I've quit hayin', they're still sitting in the barn, loaded down with junk and stuff, waiting for my ambition to kick in.

My B-I-L has three. I'd say they were 12-16' long. They are nothing but rusty metal frames (no decking) and each one has a different type of (bald)car tire on each corner. I think they are from the 40's and each can carry two or three big round bales at a time. He pulls two or sometimes all three at the same time. Every time I help him out I expect them to disintegrate into piles of rust but they keep plugging along.

You have to see them to believe them. If I can find a pic I'll post it.

His dad told him that during WWII during rubber rationing he could get new tires for these wagons because they were for farm use, but you couldn't get tires for your cars. So he got new tires for the wagons, but put them on his cars. He put the old car tires on the wagons.

My TSC brand 6 ton wagon was bought used has original oliver shade of green. I am guessing its either 60's or 70's. the fellow i bought it from had 2 other identical wagons and I know he bought his farm in '79 so maybe it isnt that old. same story here, it needs tires/decking and ambition.
