Nice setup. I had thought about doing something like that with our church and do Christmas caroling. Did you run the Christmas lights off an inverter?

Soundguy,

Great pics!!

Last year you posted a thread on your hay rides that inspired me to want to do the same. It rained the day we had it planned, so I wasn't able to have it.

This year we had over 30 people here for Thanksgiving and a hay ride. This was my first time, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I had a route planned out around my place and had driven it a few times to make sure it wasn't too rough. It was cold out and getting late when we went for the hay ride, so I was also worried about them being cold. Everyone who went was bundled up in heavy jackets along with blankets.

After I made it around on the route I had planned and was heading back to the house, they asked me to keep going. I took another route around my place along some rougher roads that I thought might be too bouncy for them, but they loved it. So when they asked for me to keep going, I took them on my ATV trails that I could barely get the trailer through. In fact, I bent my license plate on one tree where it was a little too tight!!!

I really enjoyed it and from the reaction of everyone else, so did they. We're gonna do it again on Christmas Eve if the weather works out for us.

Thanks,
Eddie

We did one end of October, everyone had a lot of fun. It was really cold here, which brings me to my question for Eddie... What is cold in Texas? We were upper twenties to lower thirties and windy as all get out. But like you said everyone had a great time and wanted more.

My trailer is smaller, but that just gave me a good excuse to drive for several rides.

I used to run Christmas lights on my tractor trailer using a cheap 700 watt inverter. Worked great, but the alternator was a little bit larger than the one on most tractors.
Looks like a lot of fun for everyone!

Yep. I put an extra battery on the trailer tounge and use a jumper wire harness to go from the tractor elec system to the trailer. The extra battery makes it where I don't have to run heavy gauge wire to the back.

Even if you only have a small alternator.. you can always add a 2nd battery on the trailer toungue to help out with load.

For instance, my ford 5000 only has a 20a generator.. not even an alternator!

Looks like fun. Haven't been on one in a couple of years.

Here are the three modes of transportation we use at the christmas tree farm to help people to and from the fields. We also run a JD 50 with another 2 axle haywagon and JD 1050 with a 14ft equipment trailer with sides and benches.

Our "new" JD 6200 and JD B setup to pull an 18ft goosneck.
