Just ran across this list from the Consumer Protection People--Is your product on THIS LIST ? I was really surprised to find many of the items on there--Ken Sweet

to see if the serial numbers match on my Lawn Tractor.

Deere, Honda, Kawasaki, Toro and so on.
It seems that most of these companies are big companies known with well-equipped facilities. Not seeing smaller companies in this list isn't strange?

A product recall costs a manufacturer a small fortune. The big companies comply because they have to but also to maintain customer relations. Many product recalls are voluntary based on data the manufacturer has. A small manufacturer is less likely to conduct a voluntary recall due to the costs and is also less likely to attract the attention of the CPSC due to fewer products in the field.

On the other hand, if a smaller company is "caught" and forced to recall product it can easily result in bankruptcy.

Also, there has to be a reasonably appreciated "prize" to get the attention of tort lwyers... Why bother with Jinma, when you can go after Deere... Even Kubota is a much less enticing subject...
