Hi all, I bought a middle buster at TSC and tried to use it yesterday, it would barely scratch the ground. I shortened the top link to get a more agressive angle and that did not help. I am thinking that its not working properly because the 1533 is higher up than most compacts. Any thoughts/ideas would be appreciated! My tractor is a Massey Ferguson 1533

I would think it has more to do with your drop on the 3pt arms. I use one on my GC and it does pretty well. I can get it deep enough to stop the tractor so I guess that's as good as I can expect. I bought the subsoiler last fall, but haven't tried it yet. Was hoping it would help me expand my invisible fence.

Are you referring to the adjustment for the rate of fall on the lift arms? I just thought of that as it is adjusted right now for a 6" finish mower!

I was thinking extent of fall. Don't know that it is controllable though. Rate of fall might be your key. The middle buster is quite light so you would need to throttle up the drop to get it down. Once it gets into the ground it will pull itself under theoretically.

Hang a suit case weight on the middle buster, or more if needed.

Make sure you get maximum drop too.

Thanks for your ideas, Next time I go out there I will slack off the control for the fall rate, dig by hand a hole to check the depth, and find someone to stand on it for ballast cause I dont have any weights.

I am going to get one as well this weekend. I have a 4x4 1250 with fel. Its about the same size as yours, how did the weight work out? I would rather use the 1250 but if I have to use the TO-30, I will. :)

Try lengthening the top link to allow the blade to enter the ground at an angle instead of just dragging along it.

My neighbor cut the shank and welded a sleeve on it with holes so I can adjust it up to 12" lower than it would go before.I can now dig with it, but I wish I would have just taken it back and got a refund, it really does not work that well in my opinion and the "plow" part of it seems really flimsy. Or maybe I just havent played with it enough to figure the thing out. It also has a tendency to "kick" back with the top link coming down.Hope others have better luck with this thing than me.
