Hi, A guy near me is selling these tractors made in China and I have wonder if these tractors have a future here in U.S.?

Tractor has 30HP, 4 Wheel drive, Diesel, power streering, AG Tires,
Canopy. These tractors are also sold by Homers. Link below,
http://www.farmprotractors.com/

Thanks, Terry.

Homier imports Jinma tractors and distributes them to dealers as well as selling them at their traveling tool shows. They do not make their sales volume public but I understand that well over 6000 of these were sold last year alone, It has been reported that about 5000 Jinma tractors were imported in 2002. We are a Farm Pro dealer and find they offer a low cost alternative to used tractors. They lack the fit and finish of better known brands, and the higher price. As far as function, they are basic, sliding gear type transmissions, two stage clutches, have sufficient hydraulics to add a loader.
They also offer a small bull dozer, and will have trackhoe and skid steers out this year.

like bc said they are JINMA tractors and have been getting sold in USA for a long time! in terms of sales volumes they have made nearly as many tractors as the big three, but most of theire sales are in low income areas, lots of them in use in china rice patties and in so america. there are lots of indipendant dealers of the jinmas and farmpro is just the newest large volume dealer.

I have a Jinma with almost 100 hrs on it now and have enjoyed it very much. It sure has saved mr a lot of time and did many things for me I wasn't planning on doing. I use it for my 200 X 200 ft garden augering holes etc. Good bang for the buck.

Hi, excuse me if I mess up I just joined this site today. My situation is this, I never owned a tractor before but I'm building a new home in N.C. and I want to buy a tractor to help dig trenches, carry wood, clear some woods, and do all sorts of work. This is for homeowner use only. Not knowing anything about tractors I found the farm pro product. How good is this tractor, I would hate to spend $14,900 (with a front end loader and backhoe attachment) and find out I bought a dud. From what I've read about the Farm Pro I see that there has been some problems. I really am nervous. I am open for any suggestions. Thanks, /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif Jerry

I am new to this forum but have owned JD and now looking at Orange tractors. I would look at Kioti or other big three used tractors. The Farm Pro don't seem to hold their value around here in SC

Good luck

JADAVID,
Welcome to the forum. I am also a recent subscriber to TBN. It is a great site for tractor information. Sometimes you will suffer from info overload. But better to have to much info than to little. I have been working in this tractor thing for 9 months to a year. Started looking at grey market, moved to used and e-bay. After a bad experience with e-bay I decided to check into new units. For not a lot more, you can buy new and not worry about someone elses problems. There has been little used available in my area and when a good one comes up, you better be the first to call. My other problem was that I wanted a backhoe. By the time you buy used and add a backhoe, you might as well buy new.

Your situation sounds a little like mine. We have property and will start building in poss. 9 mos. to a year. The last house I built we spent a lot renting tractors and decided to put this money into a tractor of our own. Will not pay for it all but at least will have it for any future usage as well.

I have looked at most all the other brands and have narrowed my search to Kioti and Mahindra. It is a very personal decision and I have sat on or have driven a lot of tractors. It keeps coming back to the Kioti. The LK3054xs with loader and backhoe is a good bread and butter unit. They have recently updated it with some nice features but it seems to have a long track record. If you are like me, I only get to do this once. A mistake will be fatal, my wife would kill me /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif. Hope to make the decision and pull the trigger in the next couple of weeks.

Good luck and enjoy the process.

Hey there,

Welcome to the forums. I noticed you asked about Farm Pro, and of course you can't do that without those who have never owned one telling you that you're wrong for looking at one. However I do own a Jinma and have never looked back.

Farmpro is a Jinma with very few options. They are 40 year old technology overbuilt with lots of cast iron and very little attention paid to fit and finish.

The value of a chinese tractor is completely related to the assembly of the unit stateside. The second part of the value equation is wether or not there any assembly errors on the chinese side. If you find a good local dealer, all of those problems go away for a slightly higher purchase $$$ than farmpro. If you put it together yourself, it's dirt cheap, but you are your own support system.

Mine has already paid for itself in one year with couple very minor problems (all caused by me during assembly). One or two folks have had major problems, that with the help of other chinese tractor owners (www.ctoa.net) have been solved.

I don't mind fit and finish, and I'm comfortable taking mine apart for maintenance. For this I have a 22 hp 4wd tractor with chipper, box blade, mower, snowblower, and boom pole for under $11000.

If the lack of a beer holder is a problem, then this isn't your tractor. If an occasional oil drip, rust spot, or rattle bothers you, then this isn't your tractor. If you don't mind getting your hands dirty, a manual transmission, and trading off money for a beer holder, fit and finish, marketing literature, and expensive monochromatic paint, then go for it.

I agree... You are getting a new 'no frills' tractor for used antique tractor prices.

And yes.. dealer counts. If you have no 'good' local dealers.. look at northern supply.. they sell the jinma branded as nortrac... As big as that company is.. fit and finish probably go way up, and maintenance issues go way down.. and price goes up a bit. I think they are running a special on free shipping right now.

As for land clearing.. keep in mind that a CUT tractor is not a bull-dozer. Yes, with a backhoe, you can dig out root balls, etc,, and you can haul logs out of the woods if you are careful.

When I get my next tractor.. I'm going to look at the higher hp models.. 45? hp.. perhaps I may get lucky and they might come out with a 50hp over here ( if not already ).
