The Harley rake will remove some grass, but much will be left behind. The grass I assume must have been tilled in. If it was sprayed with a herbicide, it will probably decompse sufficently not to be a big problem, if not, it's all coming back up. The Harley does a reasonable job of removing rocks and debris, it does a superb job of grading and leveling.

Where are you at in TN?

I am in Clarksville and the guy that we work with has a Harley rake.

I would not think of it tilling in the grass but it will sure make a nice seed bed.

e-mail me direct at trialsalan at bellsouth.net

I just put a new lawn in two weeks ago. I had sprayed the grass/weeds with Roundup two weeks prior to starting to work on it. I first used a boxblade with rippers and it did a good job of breaking up the clay, tearing out old tree roots and doing some leveling. However, with my limited expertise I could see I would spend way too much time trying to get it really level the way I wanted it. So I rented a T5 Harley Rake and what a difference that made in leveling/cleaning and breaking up the soil into an excellent seedbed. Then spread some topsoil using the Harley Rake to level and mix that in and it was well worth the $150 rental fee for 24 hours. It really sold me on the Harley Rake. I even put it to the test on our hard gravel road to take out a few potholes and it did it no problem. It made a believer out of me on the excellent job it did. They're video claims it will knock the dirt off grass clumps and clean off the grass but I doubt it gets all the grass out. But, for the most part it seems to work exactly as advertised. Wish I had a good excuse to own one! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
