Anybody own a set of these??? I need a set of pallet jacks to move pallets of fertilizer (2000 #) and Bins of pumpkins around in the barn (less than 1000#). Would be used a few times a month, except in the fall they would be used a few times a day (when moving pumpkins)

I can buy a "good" set locally for $379.00 plus tax from the CAT lift truck dealer or a set from the local Harbor Freight 2-1/2 Ton Pallet Jack for $239.00 minus 20% plus tax. About $420.00 for the "good" ones vs $210.00 for the Harbor Freight ones.

I looked at these threads HF tools that suck - Page 29 - TractorByNet.com and http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/parts-repairs/114176-harbor-freight-tools-dont-suck.html , but couldn't find anyone that commented on the pallet jacks.

The most common problem I have had with harbor freight items is the hardware, (bolts and nuts) If you replace them with quality bolts, nuts, at least grade 5 I would say it would be fine, But I have had good luck with HF long ram jacks which is a hyd product of theres, I would say go for it

I don't have the pallet jack but over the years have had lots of hydraulic things made by HF. Over all they all work pretty good but I have had a couple of floor jacks start to leak over the years around the rod. I always try to leave them in the lowest position so the rod can't rust.

Do you have a store near by or are you thinking of buying it on-line. I would look at the quality of the wheels. I've had some cheap casters that the plastic broke apart (not the ones in the pallet jack picture though). Everything else should be fine. Even the bottle jack faces up so it shouldn't have issues with leaking like a floor jack

Buy the good quality one... and own it the rest of your life. That's my advice.

We have one in our warehouse that's used daily. As long as we keep it lubricated we have had no problems, been in operation for two years now.

Gonna buy them at the store. I've looked at them and they look about the same as the expensive one's. Both are made in China.

Thanks! That's the kind of info I was looking for. These will be for occastional use. We pulled pumpkins yesterday and I have about 15 bins of pumpkins that need to be "placed" in the barn. They are just sitting in a row taking up a lot of space.

I'm going this afternoon to buy a set. I'll work them really hard over the next few weeks and if I have any problems I'll just take them back and get my money back. They have a 90 day warranty.

I just purchased one of the new Harbor Freight Pallet jacks model 39939 and I noticed it does not gently lower heavy loads. Is there an adjusting screw or valve that I can adjust to slow the lowering of a heavy load on the pallet jack? Other than that it seems to be a pretty good jack. I purchased it for $239 and had a 20% off coupon so it cost me $191. Its seems to be a good deal for the money.

I did buy them. Have moved 15-20 pallets of pumpkins with them. The heaviest thing I have lifted is probably 1000-1500 pounds.
