Half of pto shaft turns

I have a kubota 2360 with a howse 4 ft brush hog I bought used. The shaft seems a good length and has about 8 inches overlap and doesn't bind. When I turn the pto on the tractor half of the pto shaft turns at speed but doesn't catch the brush hog half. It's a square shaft and it seems it may be rounded out? Lookin for if I can repair or need a new shaft thanks

Did it break the shear bolt on the mower?

No it is in fact if I disconnect front the tractor and shove that half down onto the mower shaft it will turn both by hand easily. The tractor shaft does have a small 1 inch crack at the very end but doesn't seem enough to effect it like that

If the shaft is worn out you will have to get a new one , I would take the yoke off the mower and clean the shaft on the mower and yoke new shear bolt, grease the shaft seems like the shear bolt was not breaking and the pto shaft was taking all the force ..

Can you pull both halves apart and post a picture of both ends of each shaft?
it sounds almost like a previous owner may have run the shaft too far out and messed up the end where the two halves come together.

Thanks that's what I was assuming. Amy idea what shaft i need for a kubota 2360 not sure how to figure out the different series
