yesterday I spent 10 hours seat time, about the most any one time on this tractor yet since owning it, He held up well, never ran hot or showed any signs of slowing down:thumbsup: When I came in was to tired to put the tractor away, So this morning I went to unload the tractor from the trailer and realized how dirty I had gotten it... Aahhhh! I know:D...anyway it started up and run great as usual, about 2 weeks ago it started leaking at one of the wheels seals and made a mess all over the wheel, I decide to spray it off a bit, actually wound up give it a good cleaning;) My 5 year old granddaughter who always wants to help her Pa-Pa with things, I let her spray it with the water-hose, the wife calls me in and I leave for a few minutes and told my granddaughter to rinse it off good,;)
I came back to find her now giving her doll a bath:laughing: I get the water hose and cleaning things up and let the tractor sit to dry for about 1 hour, i then went to start it up and it barely would turn over, so I hit the Decompression lever and it only spin spin never fired up, i thought to myself this is odd:confused: so I give it another wiz over and let it turn over like there was no compression, and finally he fired up and started running slowing until it pickup and blew black stuff all over the clean tractor, Huh!:(
I had my suspicion as to what might have happen , although didn't know how to confront her about it, I started out thanking her for helping me and told her she done a great job:thumbsup: I then ask her if she clean a certain spot? pointing to the wheel and she said yes, again another place i ask, and then finally ask did she clean the pipe sticking out the top real good?
she say yes! Pa-Pa I clean that part real good..... I then had my answer as to why the tractor cranked over the way it did:D Grand children we got ta- Love-um  but what ever you do dont leave them with a water hose near you tractor while not looking:confused2:

Pa-Pa
Thats pretty funny, your lucky she did not give you a free H20 fill-up while she was at it.
Or stuck the doll between your rad and engine block, and shut the hood back down. :)
Glad to hear it was a "nobody got hurt" story though ! :)

You'd make a good detective. Your interrogation style would catch any suspect off guard. Loved my grampa but he was shall we say a bit more confrontational when "things happened" around the farm.

Scary!! I was thinking this was going to it rolling back over her or something. So it looks like nothing was done to harm the tractor now that i know the girl is ok. Do you think it made it into that cyl?

Sorry for the way I presented the story, I read back and found that one could have at first thought some harm might have came to my granddaughter,
But I assure you the brake is always locked and the bucket down along with the rear implement on the ground, and the key in my pocket, Nothing would have happen, and she has been told never to climb up onto the tractor, she is very smart and minds well, in this case a bit to well when given instructions to rinse off the tractor, she stands at only 44" tall and I find it strange that she was able to reach the muffler, I guess she held steady enough aim:D

I didn't open the decompression lever until after it started turning over slowly so I'm hoping it blew all the water out, I just changed the oil about 3 weeks ago but suppose I need to check the oil condition, might even change it again for safe measures,

It would be very hard to spray enough water in my exhaust to affect starting or running. Don't most exhaust have the flapper on top that closes when the tractor is not running????? How can a 44" body spray water in the exhaust unless they are standing on the hood.

I think the factory, and i know the replacement muffler on these has a bend to it, not quite 90 degrees but is bent and then angled foward. The bend and perpendicular cut to the ground keeps most of the water out. But that means the muffler points perpendicular to the ground so a 3.5 foot tall little girl can check her aim and point at the metal pipe trying to get it inside of it!

Look at my avatar pic and see my muffler. I dont have a vertical stack with flappers like you have.

Click this pic you may be able to tell?

heh heh! Most may have flappers, and Mine will soon enough, but as it is now it has a turn-out on the side, water could easily be sprayed into it if not taken close aim,:p I got to tell this story as well, and when I see my our son again I'm going to tell him about how much he and his daughter/Our granddaughter has in common:D
anyway back when our son was about 8 years old we had gotten him a dirt bike, I laid down the rules about how he should take care of it, and if he got it dirty/muddy he was to wash it off before putting it away, .....
So! the first cleaning he did to it he must have been proud of, he came got me to have a look at such a wonder cleaning he give the bike, But.... he told me for some reason it would not start, In fact it wouldn't even kick over, Hmmmm:confused: i thought to myself I heard him drive up on it about 1 hour previous, I went for my tools and pulled the spark plug, as I removed the plug wet stuff drained out from the plug hole:cool: I knew then what he might had done, so I asked him did he happen to put the water hose to the muffler hole? he said yup it was coming out dirty so he kept letting it run water until it came out clean:ashamed: I wanted to hang him by his ears but it was so funny I couldn't hold a straight face,:D

When my granddaughter said that she had done this to the muffler the first thing I thought of was our son doing this same thing to his dirt bike, she definitely got that from him:eek:
here in the pictures you can see how the muffler stack is at top,

It is possible with that set up. Put a bucket over it.

I do if it sits in the open. Most of us when we wash our tractors dont put a bucket over the pipe. He didnt in this case either, if he did it would not have happened but who puts a bucket over while there washing and about to go to another place.
