Tractor
Kubota M7040 cab/hyd shuttle - current, Kubota L3400 - traded
I've been a tad intimidated with it being so different from my modern Kubota HST tractor.

Today I decided to switch my bush hog over to it so I could spend sometime getting comfortable. After some pushing and shoving since I don't have a Pat's QH on it and no hydraulic toplink to make implement changes a snap, I was ready to bush hog.

I had an absolute blast! Everything works like a top. PTO wierded me out at first. There are three positions for the lever. Middle it is off. I put it forward and the PTO started turning but VERY slowly. No idea what this was about. Pushed it back and it worked normally.

I was comfortable enough to take it into my pole barn in close quarters and practice raking it out. No problems. I'm quite sure I'll get comfortable with it.

Got it parked in my shed in close quarters to other equipment too.

Had to post to tell y'all how excited I am! I've always wanted an older tractor to have around the farm and I'm thrilled to have one.

Did "slow" pto move relative to travel speed? If so, it must be "ground speed pto". Quite a few Massey's of that era had it. Massey built a few pto driven hay rakes that made use of it, and it's a fairly handy feature with pto driven manure spreaders. I forget the exact ratio, but it's something like 19 revolutions per every one revolution of rear wheels.

I spent most of the day (yesterday) on my 150, bush hogging, and enjoying ALMOST every minute of it myself. (Until I discovered a wasp nest that didn't really need to be discovered...)

Glad your finding the new rig to your liking. Nothing better than buying something and actually being satisfied with it!

Sounds like it could be the case. I wasn't moving so it was moving very slowly. Next time I bush hog I will move and see if it speeds up.

I can see how this could be useful with my manure spreader. Always a pain when I start the manure spreader up at standstill and it spreads a whole pile of stuff around the spot where I start it. I usually strategically load it so that there isn't much at the very back so I have time to start moving the tractor before it starts spreading.

Even when you hit that yellow jacket's nest and had 10,000,000,000 of the little monsters out for blood?
