Ford: '88 3910 Series II, '80 3600, '65 3000; '07 6530C Branson with FEL, 2020 LS MT225S. Case-IH 395 and 895 with cab. All Diesels
In browsing "http://tractors.wikia.com/wiki/Cummins" just now , I found out that the B 3.3L Cummins engine in my 6530 Branson is the same series of engine, "B" series, as is the Cummins diesel in the Dodge Ram p/u. Only difference is 3.3L vs 5.9 or 6.7L for the truck. Now that's neat. Gees my little red tugger just gets better all the time.

Cool. Since they make an I4 and an I6 it makes sense. That is a very good engine that's for sure. The I6 version in pickups uses a lift pump for the fuel system. And those were a weak failure point. I don't know if Dodge is still using lift pumps on their trucks today. Dodge trucks have been known for their very dependable power trains. But at the same time with cheap flimsy interiors. But hey, who needs a door handle of window crank right? B.

Another benefit is that you can get you engine worked on by a cummins dealer. I started taking my Ram to cummins vice Dodge because never seems to know anything about the engine. Cummins is also cheaper. The cummins guy said "too bad Dodge put a million mile motor in a 250K mile truck."
Your tractor will run long after it refuses to operate as a tractor.

I'd hate to see the cost of a million mile pick-up! Seems the best any of them do for use is around 300,000 miles over a 10 to 12 year span although we do have a 2500 with a cummins working towards 400,000 miles that is still in great shape and running strong with only normal down time although it still is not in the 10th year yet.. We have found that some gas engines will do it as well as the cummins which we really haven't found the limit of yet. The other diesels tend to become a problem with nickel dime crap. Rust will take it's toll here in central NY on the bodies regardless of drivers. We run a variety of makes depending on the driver and the jobs so we get to see a good cross section of most of them in the market.

Thats why Nissan, with the automotive 5.0 V8 Cummins, will compete with the Ram Cummins industrial ISB6.7, more than with EcoDiesel...
