My battery will not hold a charge any more. Dealer wants $106 for a new one. It it worth it to get one from the dealership or should i check out walmart or the parts store? I got 7 years out of the original.

That's about the right price. You may have trouble finding a generic as it is a BCI45, 500 CCA, 75RC battery. Most of the generics are of lesser CCA capacity. I've had very good luck with the JD Strongbox replacement batteries.

I have tried several cheap ones, and if you do try this, get the most expensive one they have.
And try to get one from the back with the newest date code.
Right or left side positive is the only physical difference in batteries ranging from $20 to $ 95

I have decided to pay the $80-90 for the strong box batteries that JD sells. I have 3 or 4 now that is lasting 6-9 years.
Climate has some effect on this; extreme cold is bad on batteries.

Because the fill them with the acid only when you purchase them, shelf life is eliminated.

When they fill one of these batteries they will tell you to trickle charge it for 3 or 4 hours, but strangely you do not necessarily have to do it.
It's weird, but when they fill the battery with the acid it's starts producing over 12 VDC
