Just too funny, thought it would be appreciated here:

I don't know why the snake called the meeting.

That is a great picture. I never had anything to do with guinea fowl until last Sunday. My dog and I went to visit the neighbour who has yet to move to their acreage. But he has some roosters and three guinea fowl in a large (100 x 50'?) pen. I let my dog in to visit. The previous owners had chickens and I like her to visit with them so she learns not to harm them.

What a racket, especially from the guinea fowl! They first ran away and then the roosters calmed down. But the three guinea fowl regrouped and came towards the dog, all the time screeching. They seemed to look back and forth to each other as if coordinating. Lucy (dog) more or less ignored them. They would back off, all the while complaining, then come back at her again. After about 15 minutes they calmed down and went about there business as normal. Then they would come back and check on her from time to time, but no longer aggressively. I was impressed by their courage and how they settled once they determined Lucy meant no harm. It may have been different if there was a crowd like that poor snake encountered.

They are fascinating birds.

Thanks for posting.

Guinea fowl have been used in south for decades in rural areas as alarms to the farmer/resident of the likes of wolves and such.
And strangers.

Better than dogs in some cases.

I understand that guinea fowl like to eat snakes.

With that whole flock, I suspect that serpent, even as big as he is, is in for a very bad day.

i have had roosters and tom turkeys kill snakes that entered the pen before.

Great pic.

That's my guess too. Birds can be quite vicious when they want to be--and food is possible.

Funny,I just saw an episode of North Woods Law(Maine ECo's) were they got a call about a wild turkey that beat up a 80# Pit bull;it turned out to be one quinea hen.
